Substitutes Needed for 2016-17 School Year

Get involved! There is a continuing need for qualified individuals to work in educational programs within the Contra Costa County area. Your presence can make a difference! The Contra Costa County Office of Education (CCCOE) employs over 450 people in a variety of roles. Credentialed teachers and administrators, instructional assistants, and various support staff are hired to work in our many student programs. These programs include Special Education, Court and Community Schools, and Adult Correctional Education.

The CCCOE also provides education related services that employ management, professional administrative and support (classified) staff for our Business, Human Resources, Technology and Educational Services Divisions.

Job Fairs

The CCCOE hosts district-wide Teacher/Certificated Staff Recruitment Fairs throughout the year. Discover teaching positions in a variety of fields, including: All levels of K-12 education; Specialty; and Substitute teaching positions.

There are no job fairs currently scheduled.

Substitute Teachers

Substitute teachers who choose to work for CCCOE will be assigned to Special Education, Court, Community, or Career Education (ROP) classes. The pay rate is $130 per day to start, with an increase to $140 when you have completed 20 assignments. Retired teachers receive $160 per day.

The CCCOE does not hire teachers for other school districts. Each district in Contra Costa County has its own Substitute List. The requirements and procedures will vary. You will need to contact them individually to apply.
