The Piedmont Highlander (Piedmont High School) and The California (California High School) have been chosen as Crown Finalists for their hybrid publications and were announced as Silver Crowns. Ninety-seven news print and hybrid publications were chosen as Finalists for the CSPA Crown Awards.  The news print and hybrid publications were published during the 2018-19 academic year. The Crown Awards honor top student publications chosen from CSPA’s members.  Crowns are selected for overall excellence in a head-to-head comparison. Student publishing in news, magazine, yearbook or digital (online) formats are all-eligible.  During Crown consideration, publications are judged on their excellence as shown by their design, photography, concept, coverage and writing. A total of 1,145 publications were eligible for judging. From among those entries submitted, the Crown Awards are considered at Columbia by panels of invited judges, working in small groups to review each publication. Crown Awards summarize overall excellence in the entire publication while Medalist Critiques compare each publication against a printed set of standards. In contrast, Medalist Critiques are the work of a single adviser-judge. The list of all finalists is available on the CSPA website.   .boom-extension-active{cursor: crosshair !important} .boom-extension-active *:hover{cursor: crosshair !important} .boom-extension-hovered-element{outline: 2px solid rgba(130, 170, 210, .6) !important} .boom-extension-expanded-element{background: transparent !important;border: 0 !important;float: none !important;margin-left: auto !important;margin-right: auto !important;padding-left: 0 !important;padding-right: 0 !important;position: relative !important;max-width: initial !important;min-width: initial !important;width: 100% !important;} .boom-extension-active{cursor: crosshair !important} .boom-extension-active *:hover{cursor: crosshair !important} .boom-extension-hovered-element{outline: 2px solid rgba(130, 170, 210, .6) !important} .boom-extension-expanded-element{background: transparent !important;border: 0 !important;float: none !important;margin-left: auto !important;margin-right: auto !important;padding-left: 0 !important;padding-right: 0 !important;position: relative !important;max-width: initial !important;min-width: initial !important;width: 100% !important;}

CCCOE’s College and Career Readiness Team held the first meeting of a Work-Based Learning Community of Practice.  WBL connectors from Antioch, Pittsburg, Mt Diablo, West Contra Costa and Golden Gate Community attended.  We shared resources and announcements of upcoming WBL events and discussed the future work of the group, including inviting guest speakers from local companies, industry groups, and community colleges; development of internships and youth apprenticeships, and coordinating for county-wide career events.  The group plans to continue meeting monthly.
