Phillips 66 Employee Recognized as January’s Education Champion for Supporting Career Pathways for Students

PLEASANT HILL, Calif. - Superintendent of Schools Lynn Mackey announced Aimee Henry, field communications director at Phillips 66, as the Contra Costa County Education Champion for the month of January 2023.

Henry was awarded the honor at the January meeting of the Contra Costa County Board of Education. Henry and Phillips 66 have been valuable community partners for John Swett Unified School District and CCCOE’s Regional Occupational Program and Career Technical Education pathways.

During the January 25, 2023, Board Meeting, Charles Miller, Superintendent of John Swett Unified School District spoke about the invaluable partnership his district has with Henry. Each year, Henry and Phillips 66 host a golf tournament for the district, raising more than $100,000 to support school programs. Additionally, Henry is an important safety liaison. She is in regular contact with the superintendent to discuss any concerns related to the Phillips 66 Rodeo refinery.

The Contra Costa County Board of Education thanked Ms. Henry for being an Education Champion and supporting students in John Swett Unified School District as well as students involved in the County Office of Education's ROP and CTE pathways.

The Education Champion Award is an opportunity for the Superintendent of Schools to recognize community members and businesses for going above and beyond to support students, schools, and education programming in Contra Costa County. Education Champions help create opportunities, build relationships, and provide a valuable resource to schools and the students they serve.
