TK is the first year of a two-year developmental Kindergarten experience. TK provides California’s young children with the time necessary to develop the social, emotional, and academic skills needed to successfully complete Kindergarten.

The Contra Costa County Office of Education is committed to supporting districts in the implementation of SB 1381/Ed Code 48000, by providing facts about the law, resources, and information about local in person and online training with stipend opportunities, statewide events and activities, and teacher and administrator presentations and technical assistance.

There are two TK areas within Early Learning Programs:

California Transitional Kindergarten Stipend (CTKS) Project

Funds for the California Transitional Kindergarten Stipend (CTKS) Project have been fully expended and therefore we are no longer accepting applications or reimbursement requests.

Bay Region 4 California Preschool Instructional Network (CPIN) Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Resources

Provides professional learning for TK teachers based on the Preschool Learning Foundations and Curriculum Frameworks.

For more information about the CPIN TK program or resources, visit our Bay Region 4 California Preschool Instructional Network (CPIN) page.
