Cal High ROP Student Creating Virtual Scenes

ROP Play Production students at California High School are presenting a virtual production of Hamlet for the winter show. This production is set in 1949, New York City. The royal family is part of the mafia.

Students have been researching the time period of 1949 for costume and prop research and are busy making Elsinore Castle a mob owned Castle Casino in New York City. We are cast and rehearsing each day.

Instead of the usual building of sets, the techies are learning Adobe to bring the play to life over Zoom. The techies will start recording the actors in a few weeks, moving them out of their zoom boxes and in front of a virtual background.

Hamlet will be available to stream at the beginning of February after the students participate in a virtual theatre festival (www.lenaea.org). For more information, visit visit www.chsdrama.org
