GED (General Education Development) Test

The General Education Development (GED) Test is a computer-based test that consists of four subtests, which may be taken separately or all on the same day. The test contains multiple choice, short answer, and essay questions. The four test modules are Reasoning through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies.

  • Computer-based testing puts all the information learners need in one place, and it offers a flexible, reliable testing experience.

  • Test-takers can register and schedule online 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, or by phone.

  • The test provides quick turnaround of results and access to official score reports, as well as the option of forwarding them to other educational institutions.
  • To determine your readiness or to prepare for the test, contact your local adult school or take a practice test on the GED Testing Service website.
