This section is designed to support parents, caregivers, and families in understanding mental health, navigating school systems, and connecting with services in Contra Costa County. WISP believes that that family engagement is essential to student wellness and we're here to provide guidance, tools, and encouragement along the way.

Crisis Support

988

988 is the three-digit number that connects people in distress to the nationwide network of trained crisis counselors at the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. The service is free, confidential, and available 24/7 across the United States. If you or a loved one are experiencing a mental health, substance use, or suicidal crisis, confidential support is available 24/7.

Local 24/7 crisis line offering support, counseling, and connection to mental health services.
Call 1-800-833-2900 or text 'HOPE' to 20121 to recieve assistance in English and Spanish. 
 
 

The Trevor Project Lifeline:

24/7 crisis support for LGBTQ+ youth under 25.
Call 1-866-488-7386 or text 'START' to 678678 to connect with counselors trained to support LGBTQ+ identities.

The Alcohol & Other Drugs (AODS) Navigator Program offers personalized help for youth and families dealing with substance use or co-occuring mental health issues. Navigators provide care coordination, referrals, linkage to treatment programs, and help families understand service options.

Parenting Classes, Crisis Support, and Advocacy
CAPC offers Triple P Parenting classes, family-strengthening workshops, and home visiting services for families facing high stress, CPS involvement, or parenting challenges. Also provides mandated reporter training and family advocacy. 
 

Care Parent Network 

Support for Families of Children with Disabilities or Special Needs
Provides one-on-one navigation, advocacy training, and support groups for parents of children with developmental, physical, or emotional disabilities. Help families access IEP support, regional center services, and long-term planning.

First 5 Contra Costa offers parenting classes, support groups, developmental screenings, early learning activities, and basic needs navigation. 
 

Homeless Education Technical Assistance Center (HETAC)

Support for Families & Students Experiencing Homelessness
 Homeless Education Technical Assistance Center (HETAC) supports school districts and families in accessing services under the Mckinney-Vento Act, including transportation, school stability, and basic needs for students experiencing homelessness.
