General Services

General Services provides the following:
 
  • Facilities Planning: Provides strategic planning for housing of students, demographic studies, site acquisitions and mandated requirements.
  • Construction Management: Provides construction management for all COE capital projects, testing and inspection.
  • Maintenance and Operations: Provides maintenance, repair and operational management of all COE facilities, integrated pest management and asbestos abatement.
  • Purchasing: Provides management of all COE asset and supply purchases; construction bid processes; coordinates e-waste recycling program for all districts and warehouse operations.
  • Transportation: Transportation Services fills transportation needs for COE and SELPA special education programs and maintains the agency vehicle pool.
  • Safety: Provides support in developing safety priorities, defining roles and responsibilities for Emergency Preparedness. Enhance staff’s skills, knowledge, and abilities regarding safety, and creating systems of accountability to ensure safe and secure school climates and workplace environments.

It is the goal of Contra Costa County Office of Education to implement IPM by focusing on long-term prevention or suppression of pests through accurate pest identification, by frequent monitoring the pest presence, by applying appropriate action levels, and by making the habit less conducive to pests using sanitation and mechanical and physical controls.  Pesticides that are effective will be used in a manner that minimizes ricks to people, property, and the environment, and only after other options have been shown ineffective.
