Contra Costa County Office of Education

The Contra Costa County Office of Education, in partnership with EHSD Children & Family Services, offers free one-on-one tutoring for K–12 students in foster care who are under the care of Contra Costa County. Our goal is to help students strengthen their skills, build confidence, and stay on track in school.
Tutoring focuses on English Language Arts and Math, with priority given to students who are performing below grade level or would benefit from extra academic support.

Tutoring sessions can take place:
• In the home
• At a nearby community location (such as a library)

Referrals may be submitted by school district staff (including the Foster Youth Liaison) or social workers to the Foster Youth Services Coordinating Program (FYSCP). Once approved, students receive 20 hours of individualized tutoring, with the possibility of additional hours based on need and available funding.
