What is Induction?

The term “Induction” refers to the support and assessment provided to teachers in their first two years of practice with a Preliminary Credential in California.  Senate Bill 2042 (1998) requires completion of an induction program for any teacher with an SB 2042 Preliminary Credential in order to earn a Professional Clear Credential.  Induction programs must be based on the California Standards for the Teaching Profession and on statewide Induction Program Standards.
