HiSET (High School Equivalency Test)

The High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) is composed of five sub-tests which may be taken on one day or scheduled for different days.  This test is paper-based OR computer-based.  The test taker can choose the format they prefer.

  • The test has multiple choice questions and a writing essay. It consists of five sub-tests: Language Arts-Reading, Language Arts-Writing, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.

  • Go to hiset.ets.org to create a testing profile, pay fees and schedule your tests. Be sure to schedule at least 24 hours in advance of when you want to take the test

  • The tests are available in both Spanish and English. Additional resources are available on-line at hiset.ets.org

  • Scores for paper-based test are available in 7-10 days and can be found by checking your on-line HiSET account.

  • Unofficial scores  for the multiple choice sections for computer-based test are available when you finish the exam.  Scores are certified 5 days after the exam.

Cost: $140 for the entire test or $24 per sub-test and a one-time state fee of $20. Payment is online.

Availability: Testing at the CCCOE is available on Tuesdays between 9:30-5:30, excluding holidays.
